Vancouver Sun Article

I am incredible honoured to be in the Vancouver Sun today, talking about my appendix cancer journey and the book my son and I made, Bellybuttonless.

You can find out more about the operation I underwent in this other article, which interviews other local patients.

Awareness is always key;  the more that we can talk about things, the more that we can share experiences, the better chances of additional research and medical advances.

If you want to  find more about my journey  dealing with appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei, we kept a blog which you can find here: Beating Jelly Belly

Making Bellybuttonless with my son was incredibly healing for us both. To anyone dealing with cancer, our best wishes in your journey.

Yappari Chronicles and Winterborn

I have gotten some questions about where people can find out more information on my novel, Winterborn.  I made a separate site  ( to host all information that relates to the worlds of my novels.

There you can find the world overview, stories,  a pantheon and bestiary as well as illustrations by myself and others

I’ve also finished a new illustration of Quinne and Anita in the archive, which is now the new header for the site:

Spring Arrives!

Here in the Lower Mainland spring has arrived –  gorgeous cherry blossoms and daffodils are everywhere.

Did you know that the Aurora Awards are coming to Vancouver this fall? If you are a fan of speculative fiction why not  not check it out, join the CFSSA and nominate your favorite writers and artists ( Eligibility: )? To nominate and later vote for your choice you must be a member of The Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association:

Really excited that Canvention and the awards will be hosted at VCON this year. Hopefully we will have a lot of Western Canada nominees!

In other news, works in progress are still works in progress. I’m hoping to have some news in the next few weeks!

A New Year!

2014 started with a whimper and has kept me on my toes.  Health issues have unfortunately derailed some of my plans; the Winterborn sequel is still not finished and there are other tales clamoring for attention.

There are a couple of other exciting projects that I’m slowly getting off the ground, so I’m hoping to be able to make a couple of announcements by the end of Spring.

A warm thank you to everyone that stopped by to say hello and to those that purchased my art at the Vcon art show. There were questions about the sequel to Winterborn, and when it will be available. Unfortunately I’m not actually finished writing it yet, so my best estimate is that it could be out by late Spring 2014.

I am currently working on another couple of projects which will hopefully be finished before the end of the year. I’ll be posting more information once I have some sneaks peeks to show.

Meanwhile I am enjoying a week off – here in Canada the Thanksgiving weekend is almost upon us! I am looking forward to welcoming Fall properly !

A Revamped Site and Vcon

The original Uneide Art site was created in 2006. While I loved its design, over the years it became clear that we needed something easier to edit and update. Starting fresh also gave me the opportunity to retire older works of art and streamline the gallery.

Another feature I really like about the new site ( done via WordPress) is the ability to blog.  This should make it easier to discuss my works in progress, artshows and upcoming appearances!

My next appearance will be at Vcon in Vancouver ( ), where my work will be exhibited in the art show. I will also be in attendance with some other work at the Artist Alley, so please stop by and say hello.
