{"id":770,"date":"2024-05-16T22:07:59","date_gmt":"2024-05-16T22:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uneide.com\/?p=770"},"modified":"2024-05-16T22:09:29","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T22:09:29","slug":"a-note-from-the-artist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uneide.com\/?p=770","title":{"rendered":"A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I credit my parents for the obsession with mythology and the fantastic that I\u2019ve had\u00a0since I was a very young child; it&#8217;s hard to remain rooted in one place when one\u2019s name launches the imagination into hyper-drive. My childhood was spent in my grandfather\u2019s library, playing in the garden and watching Vincent Price\u2019s<em>\u00a0Classics of Terror<\/em>\u00a0with my grandmother. I&#8217;m a neurodiverse artist, so trying to understand the world has been my ongoing inspiration and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started to write as soon as I could read, and my first large-scale illustration was created at the age of five. My grandmother had left me to my own devices for a couple of hours, only to come back into the room and find that I had drawn a Martian invasion of Earth on three of the walls.\u00a0 To her credit -and my artistic growth-\u00a0 she didn\u2019t get angry;\u00a0 she commended me for my creativity and handed me a piece of paper instead. She left those murals up for the next fifteen years. As a teenager, \u00a0I discovered Bradbury<em>,\u00a0<\/em>Asimov, Madeleine L\u2019Engle, and Tolkien. The more I read the more I wanted to read, and I haven\u2019t stopped since!\u00a0 My art has always gone hand in hand with my writing, and I love to bring my worlds to life through both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you&#8217;ll find some of my worlds.
